Responsive Balloon Wall

The responsive balloon wall was designed for the reception area of Grey London's main office. It uses a combination of varying inflation and colour changing LEDs embedded in the balloons to indicate the flow of information to, from, and within Grey London.

Idea Generation:

Given the brief to design an installation piece for the reception area of Grey London's main office, we explored some of London's most intriguing offices.

After interviewing many members of Grey London's staff, we brainstormed a variety of exciting solutions

Testing materials:

After working with the client and progressing some solutions, the Responsive Balloon Wall was selected for development. This concept consisted of a series of balloons equipped with colour-changing LEDs and variable valves to indicate the flow of information through the office. Activated by digital data (such as emails, Tweets, and texting), balloons inflate to display the volume of data, and LEDs change colour in order to display the type of data. For example, a fully inflated balloon lit with a green LED could portray 50 emails while a partially inflated balloon lit with a red LED could portray 25 tags on Twitter.
